Not exactly odorless...

So, big Friday night plans included...

...Blockbuster and making dinner with a friend.

Well, it was a particularly long week with some unforeseen stressors (which will be the topic of future posts to be sure). Being a classic introvert, I need to refuel in a more serene setting than a noisy bar.

After picking out a movie, it was off to the store for supplies. We went to Daie, a local superstore (think Safeway meets K-Mart). I had yet to frequent any of the chains, but this was strictly a bare basics shopping mission, so no time for dilly dallying. Afterall, there was some serious couch time due to me.

As we marched through the store picking up items for a Mexican fare, my friend noted that Daie always has a peculiar smell. There was more than tortilla chips here, mis amigos. Lots of Asian, Hawaiian, and Filipino foods that mingle to create a distinctly unfamiliar (at least to this mainlander) smell.

After picking up our run of the mill ground beef, we passed by a freezer that gave off a particularly noxious scent.

Can't say I've ever cooked it before, but, if I had to, now I know where to find all the "goat carcasses" I need.

It's more that we tend to use euphamisms--"carcass" doesn't have the same ring as fillet mignon, oui?

I know exactly what you're talking about Missy - Daei was a huge chain in Japan
