How do you talk about a person and not worry if that person overhears snippets of the conversation?

You pretend like you're in "Silence of the Lambs".

At first I felt like I was losing my mind when a co-worker I was talking to switched pronouns mid-sentence when the topic of our discussion rounded the corner.

Then this dialog ran through my head--"It puts the lotion on its skin."
